EQ Renew, Inc. is pleased to offer a program for rebuilding of Parallelogram Lift equipment to better than new condition. This program is not a “refurbish” effort that rebuilds equipment on site and calls it “Remanufactured”. The entire lift system, including controls and accessories, is returned to a factory where a complete rebuilding process takes place. This allows for the proper quality control and required lift upgrades to be put in place, to bring a level of quality that simply cannot be achieved in a field setting. This approach, coupled with a factory-supervised installation program, will ensure many more years of dependable service, and the rebuilt units should last longer than the originals, if properly cared for.
In addition to delivering a higher quality lift system than the original, a considerable cost savings can be realized when considering rebuilding over replacement. Design and construction costs related to installing a system from a different vendor can amount to well more than the cost of the lift itself. These costs are eliminated from the process, since the same equipment removed from the facility is reinstalled in the facility.
So, what is the EQ Renew Program? Over the years, we’ve learned a few things regarding what needs to be upgraded or re-engineered, and with hindsight being 20-20, we offer the following program:
Field Evaluation
Before a lift can be rebuilt, the lift must be evaluated to determine if the unit is suitable for rebuilding. In most cases, the structural elements are well within allowable tolerances, and if not, provision will be made to repair the structural elements or replace the deficient elements.
The existing system is evaluated at the customer facility using an extensive protocol and a variety of methods including, but not limited to, the following:
- Visual inspection of all structural elements, including checks for straightness, weld integrity and structural damage.
- Thickness measurements of structural elements using standard measuring tools.
- Checks for compromised structural integrity due to corrosion using visual and ultrasonic testing if required.
- Function testing to evaluate the condition of the hydraulic cylinders, pivot tubes, mechanical locks and anchorage.
- Checks to determine the “Vintage” of the system, including number of lock positions, pins sizes, anchor size and pattern, hydraulic configuration of the control system, etc.
Proposal Process
Once the condition and vintage of the existing unit is determined, a firm price can be established based upon the number of operations that must be performed to bring the unit up to standards. For example, there are many early units in the field, that have no provision for pivot bushings, and all pivot tubes must be precisely bored to accept the required bushings. Later units had provisions for pivot bushings and need less precision machining, and therefore cost less. Other factors that can affect the cost are the distance from the factory and the options chosen in addition to any upgrades. Such options may include stainless components, LED light packages, longer approach ramps, etc. Unless otherwise agreed, the equipment will be rebuilt to the OSHA, UL, AWS, NEC and ANSI/ALI standards in effect when the equipment was originally manufactured.

Adjustment and Final Inspection
After assembly, each unit undergoes a final adjustment and function test for operation to ensure the unit will perform as advertised once it is returned to the customer.
Packing and Shipping
Each unit is carefully packed and loaded onto the truck of a carrier carefully selected by EQ Renew. These carriers have transported these units for years and are very familiar with the requirements of the assignment. Each lift is treated with care to be delivered in excellent condition.
Reinstallation
Once the unit arrives on site, a factory trained representative will inspect the lift unit and accessories while still on the truck, supervise unloading and inventory the truck contents to ensure order completeness. The lift unit will then be reinstalled and tested to factory specifications.
Finally, customer personnel will be trained in the proper use of the product, maintenance personnel will be instructed in the care of the product, and the owner’s, parts and maintenance manuals will be left with the customer for future use.
