Absolutely.
The primary ANSI/ALI standards that govern the work we do are ANSI/ALI ALIS (Safety Requirements for Installation and Service) and ANSI/ALI ALOIM (Safety Requirements for Operation, Inspection and Maintenance). These standards set forth the requirements with which we comply related to repair work and relating to utilizing and/or selling replacement parts. The work we do for our customers is primarily repair and restoration/refurbishment work. The restoration/refurbishment work is extensive to be sure, as the lift is completely disassembled, the parts are reconditioned or replaced as necessary, and the lift is completely reassembled as a new unit would be. However, at the end of the day, it is still a repair, and as such it is covered by these standards.
In addition to these standards, other standards with which we comply are too numerous to mention here. Though we choose to fully comply with these standards, it is important to note compliance with these standards is not mandatory; it is your equipment, you may do with it what you wish.
According to the American National Standards Institute (ANSI):
“The use of American National Standards is completely voluntary; their existence does not in any respect preclude anyone, whether he/she has approved the standard or not, from manufacturing, marketing, purchasing, or using products, processes, or procedures not conforming to the standards.” This ANSI disclaimer is referenced in all ANSI/ALI standards.
From the FAQ Section on the Automotive Lift Institute Website
“What about replacement parts- will my lift lose its certified status?”
“ALI’s position is clearly set forth in the governing American National Standard, ANSI/ALI ALOIM, which states at Section 8: “Replace worn, damaged or broken parts with parts approved by the original equipment manufacturer or with parts meeting the original equipment manufacturer specifications.” This identical language also appears in ANSI/ALI AALIS at Section 6.2.6 and ANSI/ALI ALCTV at Section 11.1.6.”
Since the founder of EQ Renew led the engineering team that brought these lifts to market, you can rest assured the parts we produce and parts we procure meet the original equipment manufacturer specifications.
